Invitation to the Mathematical Colloquium

Prof. Dr. Stefanie Rach, Institute of Algebra and Geometry (IAG), Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg will speak on the topic: "Which individual factors influence academic success in mathematical courses in the introductory phase of studies"
Abstract: Learning mathematics at university poses major challenges for many students and often leads to them dropping out. This presentation will focus on the individual factors that cause students to drop out. Both prior mathematical knowledge and the motivation of students are considered to be important factors. Based on the findings of several empirical studies, measures that could support students in their learning process will be discussed.
There will be an opportunity for all interested parties to talk over coffee and tea in the meeting room (R206) from 16:30.
