The Institute of Mathematics (IfM) at Clausthal University of Technology has a vacancy starting September 01, 2018 for a

Teacher for special tasks (m/f) TV-L E13 (100%)

to be filled. The position is limited to five years as part of a project to improve basic mathematics education. If the project is successful, the position may be made permanent.

The main focus of the position will be the development and implementation of courses for career changers and other students who need to catch up in mathematics, as well as the organization and implementation of preliminary mathematics courses for students of all subjects. Contacts will be established with schools and other universities in order to better adapt the courses to the prior knowledge of first-year students. The development of online courses is also desired.

Applicants need a Master's degree or a state examination with a mathematical focus (e.g. mathematics, physics or computer science). Very good pedagogical skills and practical experience in teaching courses are required. Enjoyment of and commitment to teaching mathematical principles are expected. The ability to work independently and to cooperate with lecturers from different subjects is also expected.
