Job advertisement: W2 professorship "Continuous Optimization"

The Faculty of Mathematics/Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering at Clausthal University of Technology is seeking to fill a

university professorship (W2)
Continuous Optimization

at the Institute of Mathematics as soon as possible.

The candidate should work in one of the current research areas of optimization with PDG, optimal control, variational inequalities, parameter identification, nonlinear/adaptive approximation, preferably with applications
from the engineering sciences.

We are looking for internationally recognized personalities with a research area that complements the existing focal points at the Institute of Mathematics. The post holder should actively participate in the further development of the research profile of mathematics as well as in the development of the "Business/Technomathematics" degree program, which was launched in the winter semester 2017/18. She/he should have a pronounced inclination towards interdisciplinary work and application-oriented questions and, in terms of her/his possible areas of application, fit in with the main research areas of Clausthal University of Technology.

In teaching, participation in the new degree program "Business/Technomathematics" including basic mathematical training as well as in the service offer for other subjects is expected.

Applicants are expected to be willing to participate in coordinated, interdisciplinary programs.

The recruitment requirements are set out in Section 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act.

Experience in the acquisition of third-party funding is expected.

The willingness to teach courses in German and English is required. Enjoyment of and commitment to teaching are expected.
