Lecture by PD. Dr. Philipp Öffner (Clausthal) on the topic: "Constructing and Analyzing Structure-Preserving Finite Element Schemes for Compressible Euler Equations"
Abstract:
This talk explores recent advances in the development of structure-preserving finite element schemes for hyperbolic conservation laws. We discuss their key advantages, inherent challenges, and focus on their convergence properties. Using the framework of dissipative weak solutions, we present convergence results for the compressible Euler equations, shedding light on the potential of these methods in gas dynamics.
