Lecture by Dr. Martin Bracke:
This teacher training course focuses on mathematical modeling and its practical implementation in the classroom. A brief introduction to the topic of modeling will be provided, which will then allow participants to work on various sample projects. The topics are motivated by real applications from business, physics and society. The solutions developed in small groups are briefly discussed at the end and supplemented with additional material. This gives participants the opportunity to work on the or similar examples with their own students in class. The training is supplemented by suggestions for carrying out your own modeling projects based on numerous experiences from the last 10 years. It would be helpful if participants could bring a notebook. If someone can use software such as "Excel" or "GeoGebra" well, amazing things can be achieved in a very short time.
Presentation by Dr. Marco Brey:
The company Alstom LHB in Salzgitter is currently developing a new vehicle platform called Coradia Continental. Various mathematical models and techniques are being used. In the aforementioned lecture, various application cases will be presented as examples.
