Support services for students and prospective students
Recommended offers
This page presents additional mathematical offers for the transition from school to university, which are intended to support first-year students or prospective students in STEM degree programs. In order to successfully engage with the content, it is important to work through the material in its entirety, rather than to enter into later learning units:
1. studiVEMINT:studiVEMINT of the federal state of NRW
studiVEMINT has developed an e-learning course for revising and relearning school mathematics. The resulting materials can be used in preliminary courses in the sense of blended learning. They support the transition from school to university and develop the necessary mathematical content in a thorough and comprehensible way.
The learning units have a uniform structure and use a variety of multimedia elements. A video explaining how to work with the learning units is available atvideoto find.
studiVEMINT offers a total of 13 learning units that cover all areas of school mathematics and are necessary for entry into mathematics-related courses. The following were taken into account:
- Requirements from the mathematics study checks
- Didactic analyses of deficits in the transition from school to university
- the minimum requirements catalog of the COSH group (version 2.0)
- the educational standards and core curricula from NRW
- the experiences and materials from the VEMINT project.
Further information is available at:Didactics of Mathematics Group (Paderborn University)
UnderWINT-Checksthere are also the so-called WINT checks, which have the same structure as the learning units. After successfully completing the first twelve WINTs, you can download a WINT certificate.
2 VE&MINT:VE&MINT at the MINT-Kolleg Baden-Württemberg
VE&MINT is a cooperation between
- the MINT-Kolleg Baden-Württemberg
- the VEMINT consortium
- Leibniz University Hannover
- the Technical University of Berlin
With the help of the materials, the necessary level of knowledge can be acquired for entry into mathematics-related subjects. It is possible to both prepare and test the level of knowledge in the subject. There are diagnostic tests, learning videos and interactive tasks.
The COSH catalog was incorporated into the design. This formulates competencies and minimum requirements in mathematics for entry into a STEM subject. The result is ten learning modules that teach mathematics content from both lower and upper secondary school. Learning is supported by tasks and tests that can be completed interactively.
3rd MINT basic paper on mathematics from the state of Lower Saxony:MINT-Basispapier Niedersachsen
The brochure was created by the so-called IGeMa, the "Institutionalized Discussion Group Mathematics School-University". It is the result of an exchange between experts from schools and universities on the role of mathematics at the start of studies in STEM subjects.
For this purpose, a category system for tasks was developed, which divides the expectations of the school and university side into four categories and at the same time assigns them to the educational standards for the general higher education entrance qualification and the intermediate school leaving certificate.
