Career

Education

2003-2008 Studied mathematics at the TU Clausthal.

University activity

2004-2008 Research assistant at the Institute of Mathematics at Clausthal University of Technology (tutor for the lectures Engineering Mathematics I & II, Analysis III, Engineering Statistics II, Stochastics I & II, Function Theory I & II).

Since 2008 research assistant at the Institute of Mathematics in the working group "Stochastic Models in Engineering" with doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.) in 2010.

Since 2011 Temporary Academic Council at the Institute of Applied Stochastics and Operations Research. Temporary substitute professor at the University of Hamburg in the Statistics and Stochastic Processes research group from April 2015 to September 2016.

Completed his habilitation in mathematics in August 2017. Since October 2017, substitute professor in the field of stochastics at the Institute for Applied Stochastics and Operations Research.

  • Markov chains in discrete and continuous time
  • Special numerical methods for Markov chains
  • Continued fractions and difference equations over Banach algebras
  • Reduction of the state space of Markov chains
  • Estimation of stationary parameters and probabilities for Markov processes

  • Comparison of stochastic models with discrete and continuous state spaces
