The Clausthal Continuous Optimization group develops and analyzes mathematical methods and algorithms for large-scale nonlinear optimization problems.
Andreas received a diploma (2006), a doctorate (2011), and a Habilitation (2018) in mathematics from Heidelberg University. For most of 2005, he was a complimentary research scholar at Rice University, Houston, TX, USA. From 2012-2020 he headed the Junior Research Group Model-Based Optimizing Control at the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing, Heidelberg University. He was awarded the Klaus Tschira Prize for understandable science in mathematics (2012). Andreas held interim professorship positions for Optimization (2014/15) at Mannheim University and for Numerics (2017) at Heidelberg University. From February to September 2020, he worked as a scientist at the ABB Research Center Germany in Ladenburg. Since October 2020, he holds the university professorship for Continuous Optimization at the Institute of Mathematics at Clausthal University of Technology.
